Ciao a tutti,
I’m heading to Firenze in December for a conference. I have been to Florence several times, but I have never stayed in the city for more than a day or two. I’m posting some questions here for my readers who may know the city and area better than me.
From the Florence airport, is it difficult to get to the city center? Bus? Taxi? Train?
Does anyone have a hotel recommendations? I’ll be staying in the city for 5-7 days.
Have you been to Italy/Florence recently during COVID-19? Advice? Tips? Suggestions?
If you have some information to share, please do so as a comment if possible so other users can take advantage of the information, too.
Grazie in anticipo!
Took train from Rome. I prefer to stay in the Oltrano section just across the Ponte Vecchia
There is a delicious restaurant La Casalinga. Great ribolitta. Bus to Fiesole can be fun for part of day.
We always took a bus - direct from in front of the airport terminal to beside the Santa Maria Novella train station; apparently there's no a direct tram - but it started up since we've last been to Firenze. Our favourite hotel is Hotel Rosso 23 (https://www.hotelrosso23.com/) - right on Piazza Santa Maria Novella, so very close to the train station, very central - but the piazza is relatively quiet, at least compared to the nearby bustle. Note that the Hotel Rosso 23 now shares an entrance, lobby, check-in, etc with Hotel Garibaldi Blu next door...
