The preposition "da" and places
Grammatica Centrale
As if Italian was not confusing enough already with its prepositions for going to places, the preposition da provides an extra level of complication.
Use this preposition when you are going to a friend or family member's home, the mechanic, the doctor's office and a few other places.
Here are some common examples:
dall'avvocato to the lawyer's office
dal dentista to the dentist/dentist's office
da Maria to Maria's (house)
da me/te/lui/lei at my/your/his/her house
da noi/voi/loro at our/your/their house
dal meccanico to the mechanic's
dal medico to the doctor/doctor's office
dallo zio at my uncle's (house)
