From June 26-October 11, 2021, an amazing exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (‘The Met’) on the Medici is taking place in New York City. Entitled ‘The Medici: Portraits & Politics, 1512-1570,’ this exhibition explores the ways in which artists working during this time period portrayed and depicted elite of Medicean Florence.

While COVID-19 may make travel more complicated, the Met’s web site has some great interactive features and a podcast on Cosimo I de’Medici. There is also a portraits primer that shows how portrait and art were used to create a Medici ‘brand’ that was used to influence much the same way that social media influences today.

Check out the exhibition’s web site and other virtual tours and features!
