Wordle has become a popular game with many of my friends, and I’ve also noticed people on social media getting into the craze!
While Wordle is for English, did you know that there is an Italian version? There are actually a couple of them floating around, but this one is my favorite: ParITle (formerly known as Parole where the “o” was replaced with an Italian flag).
The goal of the game (if you are unfamiliar with the rules) is this:
Make an initial guess of a five letter word in Italian. Italian can be a tricky language because of adjectives. For example, your initial guess could be rosso, rossa, rossi, or rosse, all of which mean red but change form because of the noun that they modify!
After you guess a first word, ParITle tells you if you’ve got any of the words right. Correct letters in the right place turn green. Correct letters in the wrong place turn yellow. Letters that remain gray (or don’t change color in the dark screen mode) are not in the puzzle.
Keep guessing over six rows to see if you can guess the word!
So far I’ve been able to guess the correct word in 4-5 tries, and I’ve even bombed a couple of tries. However, it is fun to play and fun to think in Italian while playing an Italian version of Wordle.
You can play ParITle by going here!
Have you played Wordle? ParITle (formerly known as Parole)? Any other word games as an app or on the web? If so, please leave a comment below!
can you explain the etymology of the name of this game? It seems like a completely made up word? (and akward at that) grazie
