The word magàri in Italian has many roles in Italian! My favorite is the use of the word magari as an interjection (un’interiezione).

As an interjection, magari means I wish or If only.

Amo la nuova macchina che hai appena acquistato! Hai vinto la lotteria?

I love the new car you just bought! Did you win the lottery?

Magari!

I wish!
